In-App
![]() | In-App is a communication channel for displaying banners and other content inside a mobile application. In-App content is launched through placements and is shown to users while they are in the application. |
In-App is a separate channel, not a variant of Mobile Push. The key difference: In-App content only appears when the user is actively using the application, whereas push notifications arrive regardless of whether the application is open or not.
In-App content is only launched through placements. It is not used in broadcasts, regular, triggered mailings, or A/B/n tests.
In-App Features
- In-app display — content is shown on predefined screens, when the application comes to the foreground, or by a user trigger.
- Screen filtering — a placement can show content only on specific application screens.
- Personalization — content adapts to profile data after user authentication.
- Interaction events — the platform registers opens, closes, on-screen actions, and time spent on screen.
Prerequisites
- Mobile application — Android, iOS, or React Native.
- Altcraft mSDK integration — the SDK must be integrated into the application.
- Resource with an In-App channel — application versions and screens are configured in the resource.
- Profile subscriptions to In-App — created via mSDK, or manually/during import if a Device ID value is provided. Required only for personalized displays. If In-App needs to be shown to all users without authentication and recording subscriber data in profiles, subscriptions are not needed.
- In-App template — content is created using the block editor.
- Placement — In-App content is only launched through placements.
You also need to add an S3 storage and bind it to your account. If you use the On-Premises version, detailed instructions are available here. If you use the cloud solution, contact Altcraft technical support.
